Northumbria Police Force is trying to recover £577,000 in costs that it incurred in defending itself in an unfair dismissal claim made by the ex-legal chief Denise Aubrey. The BBC report that Aubrey claimed she was unfairly dismissed after disclosing private information to staff. During an ET hearing Aubrey made a series of damaging allegations about former members of the force, including details of alleged affairs, claims of a punch-up at a barbecue and public money being spent on a cover-up. Aubrey lost the case and Northumbria Police is trying to recover the costs from her, which she says she cannot pay.
