After an analysis of social media sites which showed that 6 January – Blue Monday – was the most depressing day of the year for those returning to work and research from Kingston University highlighting the seven deadly email sins stressing employees out, Acas have reminded employers about the guidance available to help employees deal with stress & depression in the workplace. Acas has teamed up with the NHS's Mindful Employer initiative, a leading authority on managing mental health at work, to develop a training package and an Advisory booklet – Promoting positive mental health at work – designed to help employers to tackle the stigma around mental health, focus on the practical things that can be done to help and develop solutions by listening, i.e. help employees to help themselves.
