The quarterly statistics published by HM Courts and Tribunals Service for 1 July to 30 September 2011 show a 30% decrease

The quarterly statistics published by HM Courts and Tribunals Service for 1 July to 30 September 2011 show a 30% decrease in overall claims to employment tribunals, with a slight decrease in single claims, and a 41% decrease in multiple claims, compared to the same quarter in 2010.

The HM Courts and Tribunals Service publication ‘Quarterly Tribunals Statistics 1 July to 30 September 2011’ shows that between July and September 2011, employment tribunals received 40,300 cases, a 30% decrease in overall claims compared to the same quarter of the previous year. In this period, the number of multiple claims went down by 41% and was affected by the number of re-submitted airline cases received in July to September 2010. The number of single claims fell slightly by 1% from 15,400 from 1 July to 30 September 2010, to 15,200 for the same period of 2011-12. Employment tribunals disposed of 26,700 claims in the quarter, a 16% fall compared to the same period in the previous year.
