Drop in applications for union recognition

The Central Arbitration Committee has published its annual report for 2010/11, showing that, there were 28 applications for statutory trade union recognition, compared to 42 applications in 2009/10.

The Central Arbitration Committee has published its annual report for 2010/11, showing that, there were 28 applications for statutory trade union recognition, compared to 42 applications in 2009/10. The Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) annual report 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011 shows that the CAC received 28 applications for statutory trade union recognition. This compares with 42 in the previous year. 742 recognition applications have been received since June 2000. There were two applications for derecognition and one application that a party had failed to carry out a collective bargaining agreement following a declaration of recognition by the CAC. The report also shows that five complaints were made for non-compliance under the Information and Consultation of Employees Regulations 2004.
