In a surprising twist on contemporary work dynamics, a recent study conducted by FORA, the flexible workspace provider, reveals that the youngest members of the workforce, aged 18-24, are leading the charge back to the office, shattering stereotypes about remote work. With an average of 3.35 days spent at the workplace each week, Gen Z are embracing the office environment with unmatched enthusiasm, reshaping the future of work.

The study’s findings unveil a captivating dimension of modern work culture, however – the paramount significance of workplace amenities, particularly among younger professionals, is the driving force behind their desire to spend more time in the office. For those aged 18-24, having quality amenities in the workplace emerges as three times more important than it is for their older counterparts (37% versus 12% for those between 55 -64). Additionally, this younger demographic is three times more likely to affirm that an increase in amenities would motivate them to embrace the office environment even further.

Cafes, gyms, spas, yoga facilities, and the accommodation of pets are all high on the wish list of amenities for young workers. Among these amenities, respondents express a strong desire for an on-site gym (47%) and spa and wellness facilities (34%). Additionally, young professionals emphasise the importance of having access to a cafe (53%). This multifaceted desire among young workers signals a notable shift in workplace standards and signifies the increasing popularity of flexible workspaces. Younger professionals now seek a work environment that places a premium on well-being, aligning seamlessly with their overall quality of life.

Recognising the evolving landscape of the modern workers, Fora, a pioneering force in the flexible workspace industry, is taking proactive steps to cater to these changing needs. By providing an extensive range of amenities, dynamic workspaces, cutting-edge technology, personalised services and situated in prime locations with excellent transport links, FORA is custom-tailored to fulfil the requirements of today’s professionals. Jennie Farmer, Chief Marketing Officer of FORA comments: The recent poll results underscore the importance of creating an inspiring workspace and the value of an enriched office experience for the next generation of workers. Younger employees are embracing the office environment, but they expect more from it than just a place to work. At FORA, we are proud to provide a dynamic workspace that caters to these evolving preferences, helping businesses attract and retain top talent.”
