Why are UK firms struggling to recruit AI experts?

Discover insights from a comprehensive global job market report revealing the UK’s lag in recruiting AI experts. stru
A new extensive global job market report* has highlighted that the UK is rapidly falling behind in recruiting and attracting AI experts. The report shows the number of vacancies and applicants in the US, Canada, the EU and the UK and the data shows that France and Spain are currently leading the world in recruiting AI experts. Spain currently has more than six times as many live roles as the UK and France more than four times. Both countries are also attracting more roles than the US according to the data.
The report has highlighted how much the UK is lagging behind the US and EU and is currently only recruiting for less than 5% of the total AI roles available in the Western world. The job market is a good indication of how buoyant specific industries are and is a direct reflection of how healthy an economy is.
With AI predicted to underpin a wealth of future technologies and be a key part of economic power, countries must invest now and build AI foundations to secure a place at the global AI table. As reported this week AI technology is expected to take millions of jobs globally so we have only just begun to see the impact this technology will have around the world.

Based on the number of AI roles and the volume of applications we have a good overview of the current focus across different economies.
