New Balance walk for flood victims

The rains of November 2009 brought massive and devastating floods to Cumbria.  In its wake, the floods left over 1500 homes and businesses damaged.

Life in the area is very slowly returning back to normal. However, there are still infrastructure issues, people out of their homes, businesses closing down, and jobless rates increasing.

New Balance Athletic Shoes is a committed member of the region. We are proud of our associates who braved the floods to make it to work in Flimby.

As a sign of our commitment and dedication to those still in need, 8 New Balance associates will be walking from our corporate headquarters in Warrington to Dovenby hall, the centre for the Cumbria foundation, in an effort  to raise money and awareness for the flood victims.

The journey will take us 140 miles over 5 days through Wigan, Preston, Lancaster, Kendal, Staveley, Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere, Keswick, and Cockermouth.

Monday, 22nd February – Warrington to Preston via Wigan (30 miles)

Tuesday, 23rd February – Preston to Lancaster (30 miles)

Wednesday, 24th February – Lancaster to Staverley via Kendal (30 miles)

Thursday, 25th February – Staverley to Keswick via Windermere, Ambleside & Grasmere (30 miles)

Friday, 26th February – Keswick to Dovenby Hall (20 miles)

It’s a tough endeavor and we greatly appreciate all contributions.  Every pound counts! For full details on how and where you donation will be spent, please see www.cumbriafoundation.org.
