A senior Metropolitan Police officer who used the phrase “whiter than white” in a briefing, during which he discussed the need to be faultless and above reproach in carrying out inquiries, is under investigation. The Telegraph reports that the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) have confirmed that a notice has been served on the officer informing him that the IOPC is conducting an investigation into the alleged use of language deliberately intended to offend and that had racist undertones. An inquiry concerning an officer’s use of the phrase “pale, stale and male” in another force is also said to be in progress.
