Public Health England and Business in the Community have published a new domestic abuse toolkit to help raise awareness of the issue with employers and provide guidance on how they can support those affected by it. Last year an estimated 1.9 million adults suffered domestic abuse, affecting 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men, and it costs businesses an estimated £1.9 billion a year due to decreased productivity, time off work, lost wages and sick pay. This toolkit will help employers spot the signs of domestic abuse and create a supportive workplace which encourages the identification of health and wellbeing needs and break the silence around this issue.
