A new nationwide survey of the UK workforce by leading serviced office provider, Office Space in Town, reveals that commuting is having a detrimental effect on their productivity, wellbeing, family life and social life, with over a third of respondents (36 percent) commuting for more than 90 minutes a day.

Independent research by the global human resources director at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), suggests that BAME candidates stand only an eight per cent chance of promotion to chief executive (CEO), chief financial officer (CFO) and other senior director roles as a result of racial prejudice and nepotism that remains “rife” in the UK and international workplaces.

The scheme is separate to the Governments National Living Wage for workers aged 25 and above which currently stands at £8.21 an hour. Newham Council recently increased their hourly rate pay to its contracted home care providers, in order that they can pay their staff, a real London Living Wage.

44 percent of pet owners surveyed by Wamiz said they still find it extremely difficult to talk about a former pet’s death, whilst another 32 percent still find it a little difficult. This is despite the fact that 65 percent of those surveyed lost their dog or cat more than a year ago.

The HSE’s figures show that the number of non-fatal injuries per 100,000 workers rose from 359 in 2017/18 to 366 in 2018/19. During the corresponding timeframe there was a 22 per cent decrease in the number of construction prosecutions being undertaken by the HSE which fell from 202 in 2017/18 to just 158 in 2018/19.

On average, engineering companies invest £386,000 a year on R&D activity, meaning they are potentially able to claim £100,360 in funding. With over 100,000 UK engineering firms not claiming, despite describing their company as innovation active, a staggering £10.2 billion is going unclaimed each year.
